4.1 WordPress FAQs

These are some of the most frequent questions concerning WordPress asked by our clients:
If the password of a User registered on WordPress has been changed, or if you need to reset it, you can reset your password directly from the login page of the panel, using the "Lost your password?" button, as in the example below.

In the page displayed, either enter the email address associated with the User whose password or username you would like to change. The link to reset the login password will be sent to that email address:

If you are unable to access the mailbox associated with the User registered on WordPress, you can overwrite the password using the script below.

However, it is necessary to know the username.

Using the chg_wp_pwd.php file:
  • Copy the file to the root of your WordPress site via an FTP and rename the file in .php
  • Enter the URL of the file as follows: http://urldelwordpress/chg_wp_pwd.php
  • Enter the Username of the User whose password you need to reset
  • Enter a new Password
The script to reset the password is the following:

File chg_wp_pwd.txt
This script acts directly on the database (wp_users table), and must, therefore, be used very carefully. After completing the operation, the password is updated in the MySQL database.
For further information on the recovery of credentials, please refer to the official guide.
